CHAPTER 1
Introduction
1.1. Background
For a years a lot of office using fingerprint scanner replace absence card as their employees attendance evidence. Nowadays, fingerprint scanner take apart to equip notebook, keyboard, mouse, even USB flash disk as data security device.
Technological progress of computer has made this tool as central depository of all information. Important data have very high value, and rarely became secrets. Losing username and password account Internet banking to others hand, is the same as losing card ATM within the PIN code. It means, you are losing your money
Ironically, technological progress with computer form which progressively become smaller in format notebook, PDA, smart phone, and others progressively enlarge opportunity make a secret data move to irresponsible hands. So, various technologies to save the secret data still developed. The way is equip your mobile computer or device with fingerprint scanner. If you are loss your notebook, phone, or even USB flash disk which have been provided with fingerprint scanner, people will difficult to access the file on it.
1.2. Objective
Hopefully all of us understand any kind of the component Finger Print, how it works, and the implementation in absence activity.
1.3. Problem Definition
We just explain what is fingerprint, how it works, the implementation and excess and feebleness of this technology.

Basic Theory
Every human being has been gives two hand and two feet by Lord. At sure in them feet and hands had a fingerprint. Fingerprint generally the in form of horizontal vertical line, the merge of both as well are forming curvature. All human being in world created with unique and different fingerprint each other. In consequence, every fingerprint used to identify each human being. The example is when we make a driving license or resident sign card other important letter or generally needs to put fingerprint on it.
So, because the unique, fingerprint at this time is often used to monitor attendance in an office or the school. With this stuff data and absence manipulation can be decreased.
Although cursorily difficult to find the different of your fingerprint with others, not that way for trained police investigator or software which designed with special pattern groove fingerprint reader. This is elementary idea of a fingerprint analyzing, good to investigation importance and also security issue. A fingerprint scanner collected sample fingerprint then compare it by with other sample in database.

Problem Analysis
3.1. Problem Statement
There is an office from a broadcasting company who called PT. Eagle Rajawali Citra Televisi Indonesia (RCTI) which located in West Jakarta. They have a problem with their employee’s absences. Because of the system of absence is still manual system and became to be a risk with a data absence forgery. It can be caused they became a not oderly, indiscipline and lazy employees.
Then the other situation is the office having a lot of branch and high mobility of employees, it became difficult to count the employees work hours.
Therefore the manager of HRD wishes to use a new system and appliance to decrease all above problem, especially with absences system.
3.2. Problem Solution
To finish above problem we can be use an appliance which called Fingerprint scanner, this appliance can do Authentification process with fingerprint scanning, this appliance can signing when the somebody do an absence, because each person have unique fingerprint of they finger, it can prevent a forgery of data and time absence
Location of this Machine precisely have to be considered, generally location of this appliance reside in strategic place like middle room or a lobby, but if seen from security issue and from price of machine which quiet expensive it better reside in the nears security post.
Facet expense of this appliance is an inclusive of costly appliance, generally there's only one in a office .So the election of appropriate appliance shall be considered. If amount of employees is not too much, we shall buy appliance which smaller quantity of user. The standard is this appliance has 1500 user with 1-3 million rupiah as the price. So we can save more money if we choosing the appliance with smaller quantity of users.
3.3. How Fingerprint Works?
There is two way of how fingerprint scanner works the first is
A system fingerprint scanner own two jobs, first is taking Your fingerprint picture, and decide the pattern groove fingerprint from picture taken is equal to pattern groove fingerprint exist in database. There is some way of to take fingerprint picture, but one of method which is at most used at this time is optical scanning.
The Core from optical scanner is charge coupled device (CCD), same light sensor system used on digital camera and camcorder. CCD represents a simple laric from photosensitive diode so-called photosite, yielding electrical signal which respond the photograph light. Every photosite record a pixel, which representing a light and collide it. These Pixels are forming a dark and shine pattern from a scanned picture.
Process scan starts when you place your finger at glass plate and a camera CCD take the picture.
Scanner has they own light source. Generally it formed as light emitting diodes (LED), to illuminate your fingerprint path. System CCD yield inversed finger picture, darkened area representing much more light will be bounced (back part of fingerprint path), and the shiner area representing less light will be bounced (dale part from fingerprint path).
Before comparing picture which been taken with the data which have been kept, processor scanner ensure that CCD have taken picture clearly by checking darkness pixel mean, and will refuse the result scan if picture yielded too dark or too shine. If picture refused, scanner will lead the time illumination, then try intake draw again.
If level of darkness has fulfilled, system of scanner continue checking of draw definition, that is how sharply the result of fingerprint scan. Processor checks some athwart horizontal and vertical straight line. If picture of fingerprint yielded really lightly better, then processor will compare it with existing fingerprint picture in database.
The second way is most likely with the first way, it will be easier way, the different is after the scan machine get the fingerprint picture, the machine will determine unique dot as subordinates to be altered into binary n form. Because result from scanning will not same equal in every people because of an unique from of the fingerprint, of course the binary number yielded will not the same equal also to, later the binary number reconverted to become decimal to become the code of the user
3.4. Kinds Of finger Print Machine
There are two kinds of fingerprint scanner that generally used in an office:
FINGER PRINT ATTENDANCE
Appliance for manage data and time attendance. With this appliance the employee’s attendance will be more controlled and perceived swiftly and accurately. It will be prevent Data and timing absence forgery.
FINGER PRINT ACCESS CONTROL
This is an Appliance for gate controller. With this appliance the employee’s on-out access will be more controlled and perceived swiftly and accurately. it can limit the employees in-out access .




3.5. Future of Finger Prints
Technology of Biometric has very big benefit and utilities, like weared in system forensic, case criminal, jail security. These technology is usable also for authorizing system of ATM access, hand phone, smartcard, PC Desktop, office center and the computer network, telephonic transaction and internet ( e-commerce, e- banking ) and for mobile condition it can replace function of key to come into some stuff.
How a technology can expand and developed so that become something of universal, at the price were competitive, multi of function and utilities and also give a unique touch from something that everyone have
How a touch gave a big contribution to life growth which in security system (security), prestige, something private which can assist individual also institution (company) efficiency and affectivity.

3.6. What Caused system error?
Performance of technological biometric system highly varied surely for becoming standard quality because there is a possibility of that biometric system f is not successful in running transaction. It possible from location factor or place make performance is not effective. For example:

Incurred by dirt or oil
Position of imprecise Finger
Finger cut
Harsh job
Disparity of fingerprint pattern
